- To entertain his children, Randolph built a bowling alley on the bottom floor, where the current Nottoway restaurant is located. In the Nottoway museum, the actual bowling pieces have been reserved and are on display. (Shown in picture to the left)

- The 64-room, three-story palatial mansion is sometimes referred to as an "American castle."
Random Facts
- For tour purposes, most of the fireplaces at Nottoway Plantation are closed in. However, the only fireplace not closed in is the one in the dining room.
- Nottoway Plantations was designed by renowned architect Henry Howard of New Orleans in Greek Revival and Italianate style.
- That Nottoway survived through the Civil War, a variety of owners, and disrepair to become one of the most visited plantations in the South is a testament to its original owner, John Hampden Randolph.
